About Alps Adventures

Chamonix at Heart

Alps Adventures is run by an anglophone couple who moved to Chamonix in 2001 after falling in love with the region and each other. Un vrai coup de cœur comme on dit en Français.

Mountain Sports

We practice a number of mountain sports – skiing, hiking, mountain running, climbing, road and mountain biking – ourselves.

We are happy to share advice about what we’ve learned over the years in order to help you better enjoy and stay safe in our beautiful and challenging terrain.

Rob and Gen have both completed marathon and ultra marathon distance trail races such as the CCC and Trail des Aiguilles Rouges. Being able to host a large number of accomplished mountain runners, hikers, climbers and skiers in our chalet or apartment over the past years makes us very happy.

Qualifications

Rob is a UIMLA certified IML International Mountain Leader / Accompagnateur en Montagne – having passed through the difficult French system and studying for several years to attain this university level qualification.

Rob and Gen are both have passed the AIARE 1 Avalanche awareness course as well as several other avalanche awareness courses such as the BASI-run European Mountain Safety. This is an ongoing process for both of us to stay up on the latest in the field of safe terrain choice.

Rob and Gen both stay current on their emergency first aid certifications – each taking first responder courses every 3 years, usually favouring courses with a tilt towards emergency medicine in the outdoors.

Rob is a BASI ISIA Level 3 ski instructor and Gen is a BASI Level 2 ski instructor.

Apart from handling bookings and maintaining our web and social media presence, Genyphyr is a also an accomplished photographer in Chamonix and runs Alps Photo.
